Ethiopian Food Fail

Some cuisines are easy regulars in our kitchen. With little effort and expertise, I am able to pull them off with pleasurable results. For this cuisine, however, I was not able to say the same.

Sadly, my version of Doro Wat and Injera were so foul and inedible, it almost gave a bad name to the entire country of Ethiopia. BUT….let me tell you, it is not Ethiopia’s fault! It’s mine. I totally own up to that.

Despite being excited about the preparation, and following all of the directions on the recipes I was given, my meal ended up in the extreme realm of blah. But it’s okay! Sometimes it happens. Especially with the unfamiliar.

So, what I have learned from my failure is that it’s best to start off a new venture by experiencing it before trying to emulate it. After all, how will you know where to aim if you don’t have a line on the horizon?!
